Electronic Journalism

Electronic Journalism is an advanced course providing practical, in-depth training in radio and television news writing and delivery.  The course includes on-camera anchoring and reporting, story placement, interviewing techniques, news ethics, news legalities, localization of national and international stories, and much more.

Sportscasting Play-by-Play

Sportscasting Play-by-play provides training in key aspects of sports broadcasting and focuses on the fundamental structure of play-by-play delivery.  The course includes extensive training in writing and delivery of sports, interviewing skills, research and preparation.

The Sportscasting Play-by-Play program consists of one course of the outlined duration:

SPP101 – Play-by-Play – 18 contract hours; 2 weeks

 

Programming Music Radio

Programming Music Radio covers the basics of programming a music intensive radio station and includes an in-depth study of formats, positioning, station formatics and executional procedures, station image, format clocks, music selection and rotation, promotions, jingles, commercial breaks, hiring employees, managing employees, and building ratings.

Broadcast Promotions

Broadcast Promotions includes training in the area of broadcast promotions, including concerts, parties, remotes, and client-sponsored events, as well as station imaging and advertising.

Television Anchoring & Field Reporting

Television Field Reporting focuses on presentation of news, sports and weather in a field position or an anchoring position in front of the camera and includes working with a teleprompter.

Web Design

The Web Design course focuses on the fundamental technical and aesthetic skills required for the challenging field of web site design.  Students are provided instruction on how to create digital images and build standards-compliant websites using either HTML/CSS hand-coding or web editing programs.  Hands-on projects focus on essential skills and provide experience in web design project scenarios.  Assignments include layout and typography, home page and navigation design, graphics, competitive analysis, and portfolio site design.  Upon completion of course, student will receive a Certificate of completion.
